Playtesting 28 Sep 2006 06:15 am
continued skypeness
Last night was actual play on Skype, testing out more Galactic waters.
Honestly, the only real issue I found, aside from Skype+chat slowness, was me as GM trying to start things off powerfully. I had four different adventures to kick off, and I didn’t know how to begin, and with school and work limiting my prep time, that was pretty aggravating. John’s character’s first scene in particular ended up being a travesty of railroading.
Some of it is that I just don’t get to play very often (maybe a handful of times over the past year) and GM even less.
John, because he is awesome, pointed me in a direction that will allow for maximum beginning awesomeness and take some of the burden off me. Plus he had some insight into goals that I suggested we try out for the next adventure.
Some of the suggestions are giving me that uncomfortable domino feeling, like maybe there’s a bunch of changes that would make play better, but I’m trying to fight it off. I might have to channel that into a different game design.
In 2 1/2 hours, we only made it through 1 scene per player (i.e. 4 altogether), so things are going a little slow. Everyone seems to think that the pace will pick up as we go. That’d be encouraging.
