some humility

So Joshua and I were chatting back and forth over some emails, and I mention to him that I’m slowly and painfully trying to learn how to draw, and he says, post your progress.

And man, it’s not like getting my game playtested isn’t humbling enough. But then I’m thinking, yeah, but I can’t really say that I take any pride in my drawing, so what do I have to lose?

So today I did this and this. They make me think of the stuff where everyone was like “I can’t believe this is for sale at RPGnow.” I mean, I don’t think it’s bad, necessarily, but it’s not anything I’d want to find in a game book, y’know?

I was talking to John about how drawings without details seem way harder, and I think at my total novice level of ability I would do well to add a lot of detail to these two drawings. And their faces seem a little cartoony. Proportions seem reasonably decent, though, don’t you think? I have a hard time getting people’s arms and legs looking the right length and shape.
